Softball Recap: Lucas Drops Season-High Score on Central Christian

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lucas). They were the clear victors by a 16-7 margin over the Central Christian Comets on Monday. The Cubs haven't had any issues with the Comets recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Maddie Boyer made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Destiny Foss was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Charlize Stinehour was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI.

Lucas kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Lucas' win bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Central Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Lucas will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Comets: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
