Baseball Recap: Calhoun County's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak at Home

Calhoun County won the last time they faced North and things went their way on Monday too. The Saints came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 11-7. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Wayne Farmer, Jr. and Chippy Ayon made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Farmer, Jr. tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Ayon tossed 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). At bat, Farmer, Jr. went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Ayon went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Farmer, Jr. is becoming a predictor of Calhoun County's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-2 (and 1-6 when he doesn't).

They weren't the only ones making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ayo James, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Calhoun County: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-7 otherwise.

Calhoun County's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-8. As for North, they dropped their record down to 1-9 with the loss, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.
