Baseball Recap: Mounds Park Academy Comes Up Short

Mounds Park Academy had lost eight straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 1-5 to make it nine. They lost 14-3 to the Providence Academy Lions. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-0 last Tuesday.

As for Providence Academy, the win keeps they at an undefeated 8-0. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by six runs or more this season.

For Providence Academy's part, Caleb Cisewski looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits.

On the hitting side, Gabriel Nathe was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. He is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Joe Spades was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Mounds Park Academy is set to face off against their familiar foe St. Paul Academy-Summit at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Providence Academy will challenge rival Blake at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
