Softball Game Preview: Dublin Gaels vs. Foothill Falcons

The Dublin Gaels will venture away from home to challenge the Foothill Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dublin has given up an average of 8 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Dublin managed to slip by Amador Valley the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Dublin lost 14-4 to Amador Valley on Thursday. The Gaels have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Charlie Sicat was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. That home run was her first of the season.

Meanwhile, Foothill didn't have quite enough to beat Livermore on Friday and fell 5-3.

Foothill also got a good showing from Avana Vangipuram, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Vangipuram gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Ellie Novitske made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double.

Dublin's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Foothill, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3-1.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Dublin hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Foothill struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.

Everything went Dublin's way against Foothill in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Dublin made off with a 10-4 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Dublin since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
