Mishawaka took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the South Bend Saint Joseph Huskies 11-10. This was payback for the Cavemen, who suffered an 8-0 loss the last time these two teams met.
Mishawaka got a great performance from Camila Rameriz as she struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits.
At the plate, Khloe Hershey was a standout: she went 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Another player making a difference was Kal Steinman, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
Mishawaka was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .459. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Bend Saint Joseph only posted a batting average of .258.
Looking ahead, Mishawaka will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Rochester at 5:30 p.m. As for South Bend Saint Joseph, they will take on Goshen at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
