Softball Game Preview: Kings Park Kingsmen vs. Miller Place Panthers

The Kings Park Kingsmen will head out on the road to face off against the Miller Place Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kings Park is coming into the contest hot, having won their last seven games.

Kings Park's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. Everything went their way against Mount Sinai as they made off with a 12-0 win. Considering the Kingsmen have won nine matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Emma Lombardi was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Madeleine Cooper, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Kings Park was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .393 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for Miller Place's offense. They fell just short of St. Anthony's by a score of 2-0 on Saturday. The Panthers' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Kings Park pushed their record up to 13-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Miller Place, their loss dropped their record down to 13-2.

Kings Park came out on top in a nail-biter against Miller Place when the teams last played two weeks ago, sneaking past 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Kingsmen since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
