Football Recap: Moapa Valley Pirates vs. Canyon View Falcons
Moapa Valley's game on Friday was all tied up 14-14 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. The game between the Pirates and the Canyon View Falcons didn't end well, with the Pirates falling 35-21. The Pirates were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2019.
Several Pirates players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Briggs Hickman, who rushed for 142 yards and one score.
Ryder Miller had an outrageously good game for Canyon View as he rushed for 116 yards and three TDs on only eight carries, and also threw for 178 yards and one touchdown on only 13 passes. Miller got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 68 yards. Camden Sheridan helped out on the ground, rushing for 82 yards and a rushing touchdown.
Moapa Valley is on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3. As for Canyon View, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Coming up, Moapa Valley will look to defend their home field on Friday against Sports Leadership & Management at 7:00 p.m. As for Canyon View, they are taking a road trip to take on Carbon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup will give the Falcons their first taste of in-conference action this season.
