Volleyball Game Preview: Stanton Mustangs vs. Wakefield Trojans

The Stanton Mustangs will head out to take on the Wakefield Trojans at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Stanton has six straight wins, Wakefield has 15 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

On Thursday, Stanton earned a 2-0 victory over Humphrey-Lindsay.

Stanton never let Humphrey-Lindsay on the board, but things got pretty close in the first set. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-14.

Stanton can attribute much of their success to Rylan Hansen, who had eight digs and two aces, and Hazel Schellpeper, who had six digs and two assists. Hansen has been hot, having posted two or more aces the last six times she's played.

Meanwhile, Wakefield came up short against Howells-Dodge on Thursday and fell 2-0.

The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-10.

Wakefield's loss dropped their record down to 1-22. As for Stanton, their win bumped their record up to 20-6.

Stanton beat Wakefield 2-0 in their previous matchup back in September of 2016. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trojans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
