Preview: Stuart W. Cramer Storm vs. Huss Huskies
The Stuart W. Cramer Storm will head out on the road to face off against the Huss Huskies at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Stuart W. Cramer is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
Stuart W. Cramer pushed their score all the way to 56 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They suffered a rough 82-56 loss at the hands of Crest. While losing is never fun, Stuart W. Cramer can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 394th, while Crest is ranked 42nd).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Taelan Whitley, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and two blocks. He hasn't dropped below two blocks for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kingston Womack, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Huss scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They blew past West Mecklenburg 77-47 at home. Perhaps unsurprisinly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Huss' success was spearheaded by the efforts of Satchelle Pettis, who scored 12 points along with five assists and five rebounds, and Zaiyir 'Zii' Phillips, who scored 14 points along with five steals. Damontia Duff was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals.
Stuart W. Cramer has not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season. As for Huss, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-11.
Stuart W. Cramer came up short against Huss when the teams last played back in January, falling 59-50. Can Stuart W. Cramer avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
