It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Desert Vista had no problem doing just that on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Mountain Ridge Mountain Lions. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Thunder as it put an end to their eight-match losing streak.

While Desert Vista won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-23, 25-20.

Desert Vista got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Reese Ragains out in front who had three digs and three aces. That's the most aces Ragains has posted since back in August.

Desert Vista's win bumped their record up to 15-17. As for Mountain Ridge, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-16 record this season.

Desert Vista has already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against O'Connor on the 6th. Mountain Ridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
