Basketball Recap: Madison Takes a Loss

After flying high against Milby last Saturday, Madison came back down to earth. The Madison Marlins took a 67-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spring Woods Tigers on Tuesday. The Marlins were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Tigers earlier this season, when they won 74-66.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Spring Woods to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tavionn Pickens, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 boards. The game was Pickens' fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Trae Pickens, who went 9 for 16 en route to 20 points and four steals.

Madison's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Spring Woods, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-7.

Madison has already played their next match (against Waltrip), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Spring Woods will square off against Sterling at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Spring Woods knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven contests -- so hopefully Sterling likes a good challenge.
