Softball Recap: Mountain Ridge Wins Going Away Against Hampshire

Mountain Ridge had won three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they bumped their record up to 8-3 to make it four. Everything went their way against the Hampshire Trojans as they made off with a 17-6 victory. The Miners haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

As for Hampshire, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games.

For Hampshire's part, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Call, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. Another was Charly Ashton, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Coming up, Mountain Ridge will challenge Northern Garrett on Wednesday. As for Hampshire, they will be playing at home against Frankfort at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Falcons will roll in looking for their 21st straight victory, something the Trojans surely won't give up without a fight.
