Flag Football Recap: Beyer Comes Up Short

Beyer had lost three straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 9-9 to make it four. They and the Lathrop Spartans were almost perfectly matched up, but the Patriots suffered a 13-12 defeat. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 32-13 back in September.

Despite the loss, Beyer had strong showings from Heaven Oliver, who rushed for 98 yards and two scores, and Gabriella Garcia, who gained 91 total yards.

As for Lathrop, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-3. The final result isn't all that surprising considering their considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California flag football rankings (they are ranked 163rd, while Beyer is ranked 446th).

Lathrop's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Moira Ramones, who picked up 72 receiving yards and one TD. Those 72 receiving yards gave Ramones a new career-high.

Beyer does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lathrop, they will be playing at home against Ripon at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
