Basketball Recap: Coalfield Yellow Jackets vs. Rockwood Tigers
Coalfield gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They came out on top against the Rockwood Tigers by a score of 61-54. The win was some much needed relief for the Yellow Jackets as it spelled an end to their seven-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Collin Abston, who had 12 points in addition to five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Davidson, who had 12 points along with seven assists and three steals.
Rockwood is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.
Coalfield will face off against York Institute at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Rockwood, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Rockwood Tigers take on the Sale Creek Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rockwood is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.8 points per game this season.
