Baseball Recap: Hopewell-Loudon Takes a Loss

If Hopewell-Loudon was feeling good fresh off their 11-1 takedown of Old Fort on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Chieftains fell just short of the Upper Sandusky Rams by a score of 6-4 on Saturday. The Chieftains have struggled against the Rams recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Braylon Martinez was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-3.

Hopewell-Loudon's loss dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Upper Sandusky, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hopewell-Loudon will head out to face off against St. Joseph Central Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Crimson Streaks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed ten runs per game on average), something the Chieftains will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Upper Sandusky, they will venture away from home to square off against Wynford at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Royals' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Rams' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
