Baseball Recap: Canton Wins Going Away Against Bolton

Canton was not the first on the board on Wednesday, but they got there more often. They were the clear victors by a 13-6 margin over the Bolton Bulldogs. The Warriors have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bulldogs, too.

Oden Berg made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Canton's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 2-6 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Joseph Nadeau, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of James Canny, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.

The win made it two in a row for Canton and bumps their season record up to 4-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Bolton, their loss was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-11.

Looking ahead, Canton will face off against Lewis Mills at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bolton, they will square off against Stafford at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Bolton's pitchers better be ready for this one: Stafford has averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season.
