Baseball Game Preview: Schulenburg Shorthorns vs. Pleasanton Eagles

The Schulenburg Shorthorns will take on the Pleasanton Eagles in a tournament on Saturday. Schulenburg has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with four straight defeats, while Pleasanton will come in with five straight wins.

Schulenburg's tournament run continued when they took on Palacios on Friday. Schulenburg fell just short of Palacios by a score of 3-2. That's two games in a row now that the Shorthorns have lost by just one run.

Meanwhile, Pleasanton was able to grind out a solid victory over Brazos on Friday, taking the game 7-2.

Marcus Guardiola was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Erik Coronado was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He also hit a triple, marking his first of the season. Jayden Arrendondo was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Schulenburg's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Pleasanton, their record is now 5-1.
