Baseball Recap: Mid Valley Comes Up Short

After flying high against Blue Ridge on Saturday, Mid Valley came back down to earth. The Spartans fell just short of the Riverside Vikings by a score of 5-4 on Monday. The Spartans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Vikings earlier this season, when they won 9-6.

Nick Mills made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

Mid Valley's loss dropped their record down to 14-5. As for Riverside, their victory was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-1.

Mid Valley and Riverside should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. The Spartans (ranked 138th) will meet Honesdale (ranked 321st) at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Riverside will face off against Scranton Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank advantage (44 vs. 260).
