Basketball Recap: North Eugene Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but North Eugene ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 48-46 win over the Thurston Colts. Winning may never get old, but the Highlanders sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

North Eugene was led to victory by Zach Fisher and Jordan Gray. Fisher went 8-for-10 en route to 17 points and seven rebounds, while Gray shot 44% from the field on his way to 18 points and five boards. Gray's big performance that evening made it 16 games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of D'Mariyae Ireland, who posted eight points and five assists.

North Eugene's victory bumped their record up to 17-3. As for Thurston, with the loss, they broke their 11-game winning streak and moved their record to 14-5.

Looking ahead, North Eugene will take on Crater at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Thurston, they will challenge Eagle Point at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Colts will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 66.5 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
