Basketball Recap: Okawville Rockets vs. Sparta Bulldogs
The Okawville Rockets lost against the Sparta Bulldogs back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Okawville fell to the Bulldogs 58-52.
Sparta got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Dariontez Monroe out in front who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. James Pillers was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Okawville has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-18 record this season. As for Sparta, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Okawville will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Yellow Jackets at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th. As for Sparta, they will take on the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Dupo comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
