Basketball Game Preview: Weeping Water Indians vs. Southern Raiders

The Weeping Water Indians will take on the Southern Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Weeping Water is headed into Thursday's match hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight defeats. They took a 50-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Johnson County Central/Lewiston on Saturday. The game was a 23-23 toss-up at halftime, but the Indians couldn't quite close it out.

Weeping Water might have lost, but man, Kalison Miller was a machine: she posted 26 points. Another player making a difference was Kallie Brack, who put up six points.

Meanwhile, Southern was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap last Saturday as they fell 42-38 to Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer. The Raiders have struggled against the Titans recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Southern's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Weeping Water, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.

Everything came up roses for Weeping Water against Southern in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, as the team secured a 66-11 win. In that contest, Weeping Water amassed a halftime lead of 39-9, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
