Basketball Recap: Northgate Takes a Loss

If Northgate was feeling good fresh off their 72-49 takedown of Berean Christian last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Northgate Broncos lost 60-40 to the Acalanes Dons on Wednesday. The matchup marked the Broncos' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Northgate lost, don't look at Deangelo Smith. Despite the final result, he went 7 for 17 on his way to 15 points and six rebounds. Grayson Boustead was another key player, putting up six points and four steals.

Northgate's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 12-5. As for Acalanes, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.

Northgate and Acalanes should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Northgate will square off against College Park at 7:30 p.m. on Friday up 235 places (169 vs. 404). Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Northgate comes in on three and Acalanes on five. Meanwhile, Acalanes (ranked 150th) will meet Marin Catholic (ranked 317th) at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
