Baseball Recap: Oceanside Collegiate Academy Finds Playoff Glory Versus Hanahan

Oceanside Collegiate Academy extended their postseason success on Wednesday against Hanahan. They came out on top against the Hawks by a score of 9-7 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). This was a revenge game for the Landsharks: when they faced off against the Hawks on Wednesday, they had to take a 9-7 loss.

Jackson Lanning looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in 13 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Finn Kucaba and Aiden Brusman did most of the damage at the plate: Kucaba went 3-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Brusman went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three hits gave Kucaba a new career-high. Another player making a difference was James O'Conner, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Oceanside Collegiate Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Hanahan, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-12-2.

Coming up, Oceanside Collegiate Academy will welcome Southside Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hanahan does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
