Basketball Game Preview: Downtown Doral Dolphins vs. Mater Brickell Academy Bulls

The Downtown Doral Dolphins will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on the Mater Brickell Academy Bulls at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Wednesday, Downtown Doral was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 72-67 to Ransom Everglades. The defeat continues a trend for the Dolphins in their meetings with the Raiders: they've now lost three in a row.

Despite their loss, Downtown Doral saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Samuel Salas, who went 7-for-15 to rack up 24 points and five boards, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Mateo Davila, who almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds.

Meanwhile, Mater Brickell Academy put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Pinecrest Glades Academy by a score of 63-50.

Downtown Doral's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Mater Brickell Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.

Things could have been worse for Downtown Doral, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 68-54 loss to Mater Brickell Academy in their previous matchup back in December of 2024.
