Softball Recap: Tocoi Creek's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Tocoi Creek got themselves on the board against First Coast on Friday, but First Coast never followed suit. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over the Buccaneers. Considering the Toros have won four matches by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Ryleigh Williams made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Naomi Valcin, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

The win was the third in a row for Tocoi Creek, bringing their record up to 8-5. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for First Coast, they dropped their record down to 5-8 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

Coming up, Tocoi Creek will challenge Menendez at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Tocoi Creek's pitchers better be ready for this one: Menendez has averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season. As for First Coast, they will square off against Atlantic Coast at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Atlantic Coast will roll in looking for their 15th straight win, something First Coast surely won't give up without a fight.
