Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Luray

Luray had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They strolled past the Central Woodstock Falcons with points to spare, taking the game 71-55. This was a revenge game for the Bulldogs: when they faced off against the Falcons last Thursday, they had to take a 61-57 loss.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Luray to victory, but perhaps none more so than Matthew Owens, who shot 56% from the field on his way to 22 points and four steals. Owens is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Hilliard, who went 6-for-11 to rack up 18 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Luray's record is now 20-7. As for Central Woodstock, the defeat snapped their winning streak at nine games and leaves them with a 24-4 record.

Luray does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Central Woodstock, they will venture away from home to challenge John Marshall at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (John Marshall has won seven straight at home, while Central Woodstock won 12 straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
