Basketball Recap: Guilford Picks Up 17th Straight Win at Home

Guilford waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Hononegah Indians by a score of 45-37. This was a revenge game for the Vikings: when they faced off against the Indians back in December of 2024, they had to take a 45-33 loss.

Guilford was led to victory by Baylee Sandine and Jaleese Williams. Sandine went 5 for 8 en route to 16 points and three steals, while Williams went 6 of 14 on her way to 14 points and six assists. Another player making a difference was Zariah Burnett, who posted eight points in addition to six steals and five boards.

Guilford pushed their record up to 19-5 with the win, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.1 points per game. As for Hononegah, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 10-1 and their overall record down to 13-9.

Guilford will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Jefferson at 7:00 p.m. Guilford is facing Jefferson at the right time seeing as Jefferson is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Hononegah, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 49-33 loss against Saint Ignatius College Prep on the 25th.
