Baseball Recap: Van Alstyne Takes a Loss

If Van Alstyne was riding high fresh off their 14-3 takedown of Bonham last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Panthers fell 5-2 to the Sanger Indians on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Indians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 back in March.

Van Alstyne saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Bietz, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Graham Haynes also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Van Alstyne's loss dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Sanger, their record is now 15-10.

While Van Alstyne had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
