Softball Recap: Yulee Wins Going Away Against Eagle's View

Yulee got themselves on the board against Eagle's View on Tuesday, but Eagle's View never followed suit. They were the clear victor by a 14-0 margin over the Eagle's View Warriors. With that victory, the Hornets brought their scoring average up to 7.6 runs per game.

Sierra McCoy and Theresa Robertson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, McCoy pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Robertson kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. That's the fewest hits McCoy has allowed since back in April of 2024. At the plate, McCoy scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Robertson went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI. The dominant performance also gave McCoy a new career-high in doubles (two).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brooklyn Sawyer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Peyton Tharp, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

Yulee's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-1-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 11.7 runs. As for Eagle's View, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.

Yulee will face off against Middleburg at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Middleburg will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Yulee surely won't give up without a fight. As for Eagle's View, they will be playing at home against First Coast Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Eagle's View has given up an average of 15.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
