Basketball Recap: Skyridge Comes Up Short

Skyridge fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Westlake on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Westlake Thunder by a score of 58-55. The Falcons just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Skyridge lost, don't look at Ellah Oeser. Despite the final result, she went 9 of 13 on her way to 23 points and five rebounds. Those 23 points gave Oeser a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Merceius Mili, who posted ten points.

Westlake's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Keira Hester led the charge by putting up 13 points and three steals. Avery Thompson was another key player, posting 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Skyridge's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Westlake, they pushed their record up to 10-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Skyridge will welcome Lone Peak at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Skyridge is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.9 points per game this season. As for Westlake, they will head out to face off against Lehi at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Westlake also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 52.3 points per game.
