Baseball Recap: Greene Central Beats Roanoke Rapids for Their Third Straight Victory

Greene Central extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 13-7 in the process. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the Roanoke Rapids Yellowjackets. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Rams also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2019.

Elijah Monroe was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Easton Creech was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Greene Central hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Roanoke Rapids struck out eight times.

As for Roanoke Rapids, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season. Their defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

On Roanoke Rapids' side, Collin Elias made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Tyler Pearce, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Greene Central will square off against South Central at 6:00 p.m. on May 1. As for Roanoke Rapids, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Franklinton at 7:00 p.m.
