Softball Game Preview: Pewamo-Westphalia Pirates vs. Covenant Christian Chargers

The Pewamo-Westphalia Pirates will venture away from home to challenge the Covenant Christian Chargers at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Pewamo-Westphalia has given up an average of 6.8 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Pewamo-Westphalia came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 13-0 to Laingsburg. The game marked the first time this year in which the Pirates were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Covenant Christian entered their tilt with Allendale on Friday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 12-2 victory. The Chargers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by seven runs or more this season.

Covenant Christian's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Pewamo-Westphalia, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Pewamo-Westphalia came out on top in a nail-biter against Covenant Christian when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 10-9. Will the Pirates repeat their success, or do the Chargers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
