Volleyball Recap: Morgan Now 6-2 over Last Eight Games

Morgan had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Layton Christian Academy on Monday. The Trojans blew past the Eagles 3-0. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 two weeks ago.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Morgan was: they took every set by at least 11 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-14, 25-13.

Jack Komenda paced Morgan's offense, picking up 15 kills. Komenda got some help from Caleb Stephens and his 32 assists. Komenda was also solid from the service line: he led the team with nine aces.

Morgan is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. As for Layton Christian Academy, their loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-8.

Looking ahead, Morgan will be playing in front of their home fans against Utah Military Academy - Hill Field at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trojans are facing the Thunderbirds at the right time seeing as the Thunderbirds are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Layton Christian Academy, they will venture away from home to challenge Grantsville at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cowboys will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight.
