Soccer Game Preview: Junipero Serra vs. Menlo-Atherton

The Junipero Serra Padres will look to take advantage of their home pitch for the first time this season as they take on the Menlo-Atherton Bears at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams beat their previous opponents by a single goal, so this matchup might be just as contested.

Junipero Serra's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 victory over South San Francisco. The Padres' winning goal came courtesy of Nate Coughlin.

Meanwhile, Menlo-Atherton put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They had just enough and edged Woodside out 1-0. Even though the Bears got in a bit of trouble with the refs ( Yandel Hernandez was handed a red card), the team managed to overcome the adversity.

Menlo-Atherton's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-0-1. As for Junipero Serra, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.

Junipero Serra was able to grind out a solid win over Menlo-Atherton in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, winning 3-1. Does Junipero Serra have another victory up their sleeve, or will Menlo-Atherton turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
