Baseball Recap: Mitchell Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Mitchell ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Countryside Cougars, sneaking past 4-3. Winning may never get old, but the Mustangs sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

AYDEN GAINS looked comfortable as he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Mitchell is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-4 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on LOGAN KOSLIN, who scored three runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Mitchell's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 2-4 when he doesn't).

Mitchell's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Countryside, they moved to 8-4 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mitchell will welcome Land O' Lakes at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Mitchell is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Countryside, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Calvary Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Calvary Christian also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 7.1 runs per game.
