Recap: Canterbury Cougars vs. Estero Wildcats

The Canterbury Cougars lost against the Estero Wildcats back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Canterbury took a 59-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Estero.

When it comes to explaining why Canterbury lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kyle Scharlau. Despite the final result, he scored 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Scharlau has scored all season. Collin Meagher was another key contributor, scoring five points along with seven rebounds.

Among those leading the charge was Lee Eckman, who scored 21 points. The match was his third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jacob Sander, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds.

Canterbury bumped their record down to 1-4 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Estero, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Canterbury will take on Oasis at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Oasis presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Canterbury in Florida (Oasis is ranked 311th, while Canterbury is ranked 643rd). As for Estero, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Fort Myers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Fort Myers focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Thursday.
