Basketball Recap: Metlakatla Piles Up the Points Against Haines

Metlakatla had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They claimed a resounding 53-22 victory over the Haines Glacier Bears. The Chiefs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Metlakatla can attribute much of their success to Saahdia Buffalo, who posted 19 points. Those 19 points gave Buffalo a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of MaKarii Martinez, who had ten points.

Metlakatla is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.6 points on average over those games. Haines has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.
