Baseball Game Preview: Westosha Central Falcons vs. Waukesha West Wolverines

The Westosha Central Falcons are taking a road trip to take on the Waukesha West Wolverines at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Waukesha West took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Westosha Central, who comes in off a win.

On Friday, it was close, but Westosha Central sidestepped Elkhorn for a 3-1 win. That's two games straight that the Falcons have won by exactly two runs.

The team relied heavily on Evan Leafblad, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Everett Lucero also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Westosha Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Waukesha West was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of Arrowhead. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Wolverines were not able to get on the board.

Dylan Schreiber spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up eight Ks.

Westosha Central has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Waukesha West, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.
