Preview: Novi Wildcats vs. Catholic Central Shamrocks

Novi is 0-3 against Catholic Central since November of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Novi Wildcats will look to defend their home field against the Catholic Central Shamrocks at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Friday, Novi was able to grind out a solid victory over Glenn, taking the game 35-24. Novi's offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

Novi's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Boden Fernsler, who picked up 156 receiving yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Walker, who threw for 266 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.7 yards per attempt.

Meanwhile, Catholic Central stacked a fifth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They breezed by Mumford at home to the tune of 35-0. The win was familiar territory for Catholic Central who now have four in a row.

The critical scores for Catholic Central came from Cedric Williams, Connor Ryan, and Lee Krueger.

Novi's win was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-8 Salem and 3-6 Howell (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 37.8% over those games). As for Catholic Central, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.

Novi took a serious blow against Catholic Central in their previous matchup back in November of 2020, falling 37-0. Will Novi have more luck at home instead of on the road?
