Baseball Recap: Mater Dei Catholic Takes a Loss

Mater Dei Catholic was the 7-3 winner over Mission Bay when they last played one another back in March of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. Mater Dei Catholic took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mission Bay on Friday. The Crusaders' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it five in a row.

Mater Dei Catholic saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joey Castillo, who went 1-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Another was Marc Moran, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Mater Dei Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Mission Bay, they pushed their record up to 8-0 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Mater Dei Catholic has already played their next match (against Westview), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Mission Bay, they will be taking part in a tournament against Otay Ranch at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Otay Ranch's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Mission Bay's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
