Basketball Game Preview: Midview Middies vs. Archbishop Hoban Knights

The Midview Middies will take on the Archbishop Hoban Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Midview has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Last Saturday, Midview was able to grind out a solid victory over North Olmsted, taking the game 59-49. The win continues a trend for the Middies in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won seven in a row.

Brady Newton was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 23 points and 12 rebounds. What's more, he also posted two assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Cody Martin, who earned seven points along with six assists and six boards.

Archbishop Hoban has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They lost to McKinley on the road by a 78-64 margin on Friday.

Midview will need to focus on slowing down Sam Greer, one of several Archbishop Hoban players who made an impact when they last played. He went 6-for-8 on his way to 12 points and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Deron Jennings, who went 6-for-13 en route to 14 points.

Archbishop Hoban's defeat dropped their record down to 17-5. As for Midview, their victory bumped their record up to 3-19.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Midview has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 25.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Archbishop Hoban struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27.8 boards.
