Volleyball Recap: Pearsall Mavericks vs. Carrizo Springs Wildcats
Pearsall was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to the Carrizo Springs Wildcats. The Mavericks were not able to make up for their loss to the Wildcats from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-16, 25-15.
Defeat or not, Pearsall got some senior leadership from Saray Melendez and Alayna Zapata. Melendez had 11 aces, while Zapata had five aces.
Carrizo Springs' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Izabella Alfaro, who had nine digs and six aces. Those six aces gave Alfaro a new career-high. Joselyn DeLuna was another key player, getting 11 assists and four aces.
Pearsall's loss dropped their record down to 3-17. As for Carrizo Springs, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-11 record this season.
