Softball Game Preview: Southwest Onslow Stallions vs. Wallace-Rose Hill Bulldogs

Southwest Onslow hasn't had much luck against Wallace-Rose Hill recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Southwest Onslow Stallions will take on the Wallace-Rose Hill Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. Wallace-Rose Hill took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Southwest Onslow, who comes in off a win.

Southwest Onslow and Northside - Jacksonville faced off in a cross-town battle on Thursday. Southwest Onslow put the hurt on Northside - Jacksonville with a sharp 15-0 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Stallions needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Whitney Grissett made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Lilian Paradysz and Grace Randolph did most of the damage at the plate: Paradysz scored two runs while going 1-for-2, while Randolph scored three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. What's more, Paradysz posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Haylie Anderson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Wallace-Rose Hill lost 17-7 to Pender on Thursday.

Jansley Page made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Straughn, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Southwest Onslow's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Wallace-Rose Hill, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Southwest Onslow came up short against Wallace-Rose Hill in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 4-1. Can Southwest Onslow avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
