Baseball Recap: Coronado Takes a Loss

Coronado had to start their season on the road on Thursday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Liberty Patriots by a score of 7-5. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Gavin Rogers was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Chai, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Coincidentally, Coronado and Liberty will both be playing Sierra Vista the next time they take the field. Liberty will head out to face Sierra Vista at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Coronado will play them later in the day, at 9:00 a.m.
