Baseball Recap: Fairmont Comes Up Short

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Fairmont's offense. They fell just short of the Miamisburg Vikings by a score of 1-0 on Wednesday. The Firebirds were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Brayden Vance was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March.

Fairmont moved to 13-10 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Miamisburg, their victory bumped their record up to 7-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fairmont will face off against Ryle at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. The Raiders' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Firebirds' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Miamisburg, they will take on Middletown at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
