Baseball Recap: Alexander Takes a Loss

Alexander extended their losing streak to six on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 3-6 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Attica Blue Devils. The Trojans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Blue Devils earlier this season, when they won 11-6.

As for Attica, they moved to 2-11 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted against Alexander since April 12, 2023.

For Attica's part, Nate Killian spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits and racked up 13 Ks.

At the plate, Attica saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Justin Stockweather, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Another was Benjamin Wild, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.

Alexander and Attica could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps New York Rankings. The Trojans will face off against Pembroke at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (545 vs. 178). Meanwhile, Attica (ranked 687th) will meet Batavia (ranked 133rd) at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
