Softball Recap: Sylvan-Lucas Find Success

Sylvan-Lucas posted their closest win since April 23, 2024 on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Ellinwood Eagles 7-5. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Lily Pancost and Harlee Nelson were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Pancost didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over 4.1 innings pitched. Meanwhile, Nelson tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the most strikeouts Pancost has posted since back in April. At bat, Pancost went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base, while Nelson went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anna Feldkamp, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Josie Svaty, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run.

Sylvan-Lucas was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Sylvan-Lucas' record is now 11-9. As for Ellinwood, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-14.
