Football Game Preview: Greenfield/Northwestern Tigers vs. Calhoun/Brussels Warriors

The Greenfield/Northwestern Tigers will head out to challenge the Calhoun/Brussels Warriors at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Greenfield/Northwestern is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Sesser-Valier/Waltonville 42-14. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Tigers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 130th, while the Red Devils are ranked 315th).

Greenfield/Northwestern didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Richard Ross and Carter Chapman.

Meanwhile, Calhoun/Brussels strolled into their game on Saturday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They blew past Villa Grove, posting a 48-6 win. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Warriors just coasted through the last quarter.

Greenfield/Northwestern's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Calhoun/Brussels, their win bumped their record up to 10-0.

Greenfield/Northwestern couldn't quite get it done against Calhoun/Brussels when the teams last played back in October as they fell 14-6. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Warriors' Easton Wallendorf, who rushed for 107 yards and one score. Now that the Tigers know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
