Wilmot (Wis.) grabbed a lead in the first quarter and rode that momentum to a 40-21 win over
Westosha Central (Salem, Wis.).
The Panthers scored 14 points in the first quarter. Wilmot scored on a touchdown run by
Bennett Kothe and a
Zach Dodge touchdown run.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by Kothe in the first quarter, WHS led 20-14 at the half.
The Panthers expanded their lead to 12 points entering the fourth quarter. Wilmot's lone score in the quarter came on a
Matt Christensen touchdown run.
Kothe played well for WHS in the victory. The senior running back ran for three touchdowns. He has now scored nine touchdowns on the season.
The Panthers also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 52-7.
The win was a nice bounce back for Wilmot, which lost to Burlington last week, 31-18. The loss comes after Westosha Central defeated Delavan-Darien 25-14 last week.
In a Southern Lakes game next week Westosha Central (2-5) takes on Elkhorn, and Wilmot (3-4) will go up against Delavan-Darien also in a Southern Lakes game.
