Basketball Game Preview: Hillsboro Burros vs. McGavock Raiders

The Hillsboro Burros are taking a road trip to face off against the McGavock Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Hillsboro's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matchups.

Last Tuesday, Hillsboro beat Antioch 57-46. Given the Burros' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while the Bears are ranked 74th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, McGavock played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Cane Ridge 78-45. The Raiders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-14.

Hillsboro has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 24-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.4 points over those games. As for McGavock, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-15.

Everything came up roses for Hillsboro against McGavock in their previous matchup back in January, as the squad secured a 76-21 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hillsboro since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
